Redstone Audio Speaker Cabinets:

Redstone Audio produces high quality, hand-crafted 8", 10" and 12" speaker cabinets that have a transparent, balanced tone and are very rugged. RS-8

Our 8" will produce volume levels more than adequate for small to medium venue gigs. It is relatively small (13.5"w x 15"h x 9.5"d) and light (18 lbs), but unlike many other small cabinets, this one has plenty of good low end for solo and duo work (e.g., walking bass and chords). The speaker will handle over 400w peak, 200w average, and it will achieve ear-damaging volumes with the 50 watts from a Polytone Mini-Brain into its 8 ohms. With an Acoustic Image amp or equivalent, volume or headroom should never be an issue.

RS-10

Our RS-10 sounds much like the RS-8 in tone, but with a bit more efficiency and more low end extension, but it still retains good feedback resistance. The RS-10 pairs well with archtops that tend to be darker in tone such as Gibson L-5, but it also work great with X-braced spruce tops. If your present setup is too boomy for you, either the RS-8 or the RS-10 is your cabinet. Also rated at over 400w peak/200w average, weight is only 23 lbs for a 14.5"w x 16.5"h x 10.5" w cabinet.

RS-10V

We have developed a special vented (ported) version of the RS-10 cabinet that extends the bass for the 7 string enthusiasts , guitarists who may use lower than standard guitar tuning and even the acoustic bass player. Through careful tuning, we have avoided the boominess and phase distortion often associated with ported cabinets. In addition to providing a fuller bass, the RS-10V offers greater midrange efficiency (loudness). Weight, dimensions and speaker power rating are same as the RS-10.

The high fidelity tweeter and crossover reproduces the complex higher frequency overtones of fine acoustic instruments. The L-pad control on front of the cabinet gives the guitarist complete and convenient control over the tweeter volume with respect to the main speaker. Same dimensions as the RS-10 and a light 25 lbs. Great for guitar, keyboard and vocals.

RS-8vER

RS-12

Through computer modelling, thousands of dollars in experimentation, including countless types of acoustic padding and packing materials, we achieved our design goals on a custom dual cone Eminence 12" speaker in the same cabinet volume as that of the RS-10 and RS-10V. It has excellent low end without excessive boominess and a very fat tone with extended frequency response to 8 KHz. If you want the warmth and darkness of a twin Eminence Alpha 8 without the excessive boominess, weight, and bulkiness, the RS-12 is your cabinet. The RS-12 is rated at 400 watts peak/200 watts average and weighs only 25.5 lbs. Dimensions are the same as for the RS-10 and RS-10V.

Ruggedness

Our hardiness testing is low-tech, but effective: we throw the cabinet down Dave's concrete driveway, drop it from a 2nd story window and throw it straight down on the concrete from a Z-71 truck bed, aiming to dislodge the speaker or damage the magnet. Dave uses the destruction test RS-8 for gigging. It has suffered only some minor scuffing.

Guitars Tested

These models have been ear-tested and gig-tested using a variety of archtops, including: a 95 Gibson L-5, a Comins Chester Avenue, numerous sprucetop Heritages (Sweet 16 X-braced HRW 4-pt HB, 575/sprucetop X-braced HRW HB, Heritage Classic with parallel bracing and routed in HB, Golden Eagle X-braced floating HB, Super Eagle X-braced floating HB). Also used were several maple top archtops from the 70's: an Electra Howard Roberts, a Gibson Howards Roberts Custom, and an Ibanez FG100. Also evaluated were several Samick archtops, including an HJ-650 and an HF-650, and a 55 Gretsch Country Club with DeArmond pickups.

Acoustic Image products are warranted to the original retail purchaser to be free from manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for five years from the date of purchase. At our option, we will repair or replace products covered by the warranty without charge for materials or labor. To obtain repairs or replacement within the terms of this warranty, the product must be delivered, transportation Prepaid, to Acoustic Image or an authorized Acoustic Image repair facility. We recommend that you use the original product packaging. All repaired or replaced products will be returned freight collect. Naturally, the warranty does not apply to products which have been subjected to abuse, accident, modifications, improper handling or installation, or unauthorized repairs.
